How to Get a Driving Licence in Dubai

Having the knowledge and skill to drive a car is not just important but it can also take you to places. However, every country has its own set of rules and regulations for obtaining a driver’s license. Just like any other country, Dubai has its standards of diving license for its citizens. Eligibility criteria for driving license

Anyone aged 18 or above can apply for a car license in Dubai. People aged 21 and above qualify for a probationary license. It’s important to keep in mind that a driving license application form needs to be submitted in Arabic to the RTA ( Roads & Transport Authority ). Based on the form, the RTA issues a temporary driving license which you must carry during the training.

 

Procedure to apply for a driving license in Dubai

  1. Register at an RTA-approved driving school in Dubai and submit all relevant documents.
  2. Get an eye test done. This can be carried out at a driving school or by an optician.
  3. Get a temporary Dubai driving license or learner’s permit to start training.
  4. Complete all theory classes, which can be taken online, or in the driving school.
  5. Pass the theory tests to move on to practical lessons.
  6. Complete the practical classes and go for internal assessments.
  7. Upon completing the internal assessment, you must complete highway and city road classes.
  8. Pass the internal parking test so the school can apply for the RTA test.
  9. Pass the test and clear the final RTA road test.
  10.  Get your license.

Inclusions in the Driving License Test 

Applicants must pass some tests to obtain a valid driving license in Dubai. Driving schools here register them for the theory test. Applicants can then proceed to the RTA test once they pass all the internal tests, especially the yard parking exam. Road Test & Assessment – This is the last but also the most challenging step of the journey to get a driving license in the city. Here the examiners assess, if the applicant has passed all the criteria for obtaining a driver’s license. This is a 10 – 12 min practical driving test. The results are handed out immediately. Upon passing the test, the examiner hands out an approval paper to the candidate. They just have to submit it at the pass counter with ID documentation and the Dubai driving license fee.
